In October 2024, artist Forest Young collected 49 old shoe soles from Taiwan and used them as materials to assemble ten thought-provoking countdown artworks, forming the numbers from 9 to 0. The series, titled Approaching Countdown, was intentionally exhibited in Xiamen. Through the everyday symbol of shoe soles, Forest Young integrates footsteps and traces into the march of history, revealing the irreversible nature of time. The work not only explores the passage of life and the imprints left by all things but also reflects humanity's deep yearning for peace. The numerical forms woven from the shoe soles seem to narrate stories—of the past, the present, and the future.
