On June 1, 2022, Shanghai artist Forest Young walked out of his closed home for two months and created the "New Oriental Pearl Painting" with his hair to dedicate to Shanghai. The COVID-19 broke out in Shanghai, for which reason the city was declared closed for two months, and more than 20 million Shanghai residents were locked in their homes. To commemorate this magical era and to evoke people's reflection on the pandemic lockdown. Forest Young, a Shanghai artist, used the hair grown during his control period as paint to spread the canvas on the ground, and then shaved his head while painting. The gray and white hair fell off the canvas, gradually forming the outline of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower Tower. This work reinterprets the new meaning of Shanghai and triggers a collective resonance among the majority of Shanghai citizens.
